StudioCanal and Monumental Pictures have released the first official trailer for Back To Black, the Amy Winehouse biopic.

The film is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, and depicts Amy Winehouse’s years in London as well as her rise to fame, faithfully portrayed by actress Marisa Abella.

In addition to Abela, Back To Black also stars Jack O’Connell as Amy’s ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil, Eddie Marsan as her father Mitch, Juliet Cowan as her mother Janice and Leslie Manville as her grandmother Cynthia.

The film, which has the family’s approval, features many of her hit songs, recorded and performed by Abela, reports NME.

“Discovering a talent like Marisa Abella is like finding gold dust. The moment she laid eyes on the lens at her first audition, I knew she was the perfect actress for the role of Amy Winehouse. She made tremendous efforts and worked hard, paying attention to every detail and practicing every day, for hours, to be able to sing throughout the film. She doesn’t play Amy, Amy lives inside her,” said the film’s director, Taylor-Johnson.

Taylor-Johnson previously directed the John Lennon biopic as well as the first film in the Fifty Shades of Gray franchise. Matt Greenhalgh wrote the screenplay for the movie “Back To Black”.

“We are thrilled that StudioCanal, Focus Features and Monumental are making this film, celebrating our daughter Amy’s incredible musical legacy and showcasing her talent in the way she deserves,” Amy Wyvehouse’s parents said late last year. passed.Back To Black will be released in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on 12 April 2024.
